I suspect the somewhat subtle influences of the ‘Lana del Ray Effect’ (soft female vocals matched up to a modernized ‘classic’ sound that makes one think of the 1950’s but pushed through layers of new technology).
Is this the future of Top 40 pop? Or is this just the past turned on its head?
As always, the answer leans towards a little bit of both.
